It should be no secret to anyone that reads this blog, but the décor that you have in and outside of your home is important to the overall lifestyle that you want to project. The look of your home is crucial, especially when entertaining guests at parties and other gatherings. It’s always nice when someone comments on a new piece of furniture or a season-specific weathervane that you recently installed. Interestingly enough, brand new outdoor décor is the not the only type of these home elements that are being developed.
The Times of India recently posted a story about recycled décor that is being developed out of the trash in Noida, India, where solid waste management is a growing problem:
“Manick Thapa, CEO of Eco-wise waste management company, [said,] ‘This is a pilot project initiated by us to create furniture and small decorative items from the recyclable material that we segregate from the waste. Around 85 per cent of the solid waste can be recycled up to varying degrees.’”
Impressively, the company has been able to collect trash on a regular basis from 10 residential sectors, the article says. Even though the project is in the test phase, there are a number of different décor items that are possible using the recycled waste:
“The company has plans in the pipeline to create lamps, small sofas, coffee tables and various other decorative items from the recyclable portions of the waste collected every day. ‘We collect around 60 metric tonnes of waste every day from around 15,000 houses spread across 10 sectors,’ said Thapa.”
Even though this story only mentions India as a testing ground for these products, I can certainly see recycled décor becoming a popular item in North America, keeping in mind that recycling is a big focus in America right now. With all of the green technology developing all over the world, do you think that outdoor décor items made from recycled goods and trash will become a boom product?
